If you're upgrading or retrofitting an earlier installation you may be able to save money by ordering just the components you need. Start with this Base Kit and select, al a carte, just the wire and connectors you need. The Base Kit includes the same Power Center and laminated wiring diagram as our complete kit but does not include all the wire and connector kits that add significantly to the cost. Upgrading or retrofitting an older installation is recommended only for professional and experienced installers.

The Roadster-18 kit is available in both a standard and long version, depending on where the Power Center is mounted. Under the dash is considered the standard location and for these applications the Standard Wire Length version should be long enough. The Long Wire Length version is recommended when the Power Center is to be mounted anywhere else in the car (under the front seat, in the trunk, etc). Longer wires may also be necessary when special routing is required for concealment (for example, through frame rails). Select the appropriate version for your application when placing your order.

Similar to our Coupe-23, the Roadster-18 is a high quality yet compact kit designed especially for open air cars that don't have power windows, power door locks, 4 beam headlight systems, or a lot of electrical accessories. The heart of our kit is the Roadster Power Center, distributing power through 10 relays and 11 fuses to 18 circuits. This means more power to your system for easier starting, brighter headlights, and many years of trouble-free operation.

Relays offer an efficient and reliable means of switching high currents with minimal power loss. Auto manufacturers and professional car builders recognize this and have been using relays instead of bulky switches to improve the quality and reliability of automotive electrical systems for decades. The Power Center utilizes high quality relays to distribute power to various vehicle loads. This means no more time-consuming mounting and wiring add-on relays. The heavy duty ignition and headlight switches required by other manufacturers are not necessary with this kit. Even daytime running lights are provided as a standard safety feature!

  • Dedicated 40 amp relay with thermostatic control input, compatible with all known electric radiator fans on the market, up to 30 amps continuous running current and 70 amps startup (inrush) current.
  • Alternator Exciter circuit, compatible with GM "SI" series alternators
  • 20 amp Accessory circuit for a Radio, Power Point, etc.
  • Power Feed and Loads are connected to the Power Center through heavy duty stud terminals for simple, bullet-proof connections
  • Rated for 100 amps continuous total load, about twice what most street rods require

The Base Roadster Kit ... what’s included:

  • 100A Power Center, 23 circuits, 18 fuses, 14 relays
  • Large 17x22, Double-Sided, Laminated, Color Wiring Diagram
  • Two 100A LMI fuses and fuse holders, one protects the Power Center, the other protects the Battery and Alternator
  • NO FUSIBLE LINKS
  • Power Center cable - connects Ignition, Headlight, and Dimmer switches to the Power Center for activating the on-board relays
  • 8 and 10 awg GXL wire for connecting the Power Center primary input power to the Battery and 1-Wire Alternator. Cross-linked insulation is rated for 125 deg C (257 deg F), meets SAE J-1128 specification for automotive use.
